Creating your account

How to sign up, verify your email, and secure your account — the one account works for both buying and selling.

You need one MerkatoHQ account to buy, sell, or both. Setting it up takes a minute.

Sign up

Create an account with your email address and a password, or use a connected sign-in provider if you’d rather not manage another password. Either way you end up with the same MerkatoHQ account.

Verify your email

After signing up we send a verification link to your email. Click it to confirm the address is yours. Verifying your email keeps your account recoverable and is required for some actions.

Secure it right away

Because your account can move real money, take a moment to lock it down — all under Settings → Security:

• Add a passkey. Sign in with your device’s fingerprint, face, or screen lock instead of a password. Passkeys can’t be phished, so they’re the strongest protection we offer.
• Keep new-device alerts on. You’ll be notified if your account is accessed from a device we haven’t seen before.

If you’re here to sell

Buying works immediately once your account exists. Selling has one extra step — connecting a payout method so we can pay you — and you can’t publish a listing until that’s done. Head to Selling: getting started when you’re ready.
